World Landscape Architecture - April 2007

Sunday 22nd April 2007

As Good As Grass editor:
Learn about an environmentally friendly and sustainable landscape garden design. Astroturf is one such solution with reference to garden flooring. However, there are a multitude of eco-friendly designs which will interest gardeners and architecture expects alike.

The Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA) is proud to announce that April 2007 is the first ever World Landscape Architecture Month. During this month landscape architects will celebrate landscape architecture and its contributions to creating sustainable landscapes and improving public quality of life. Special events such as public lectures or exhibits on sustainable garden design. Projects such as green garden roofs, and career days or programs at local schools will be held in the United States, Canada and New Zealand.

In conjunction with the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA), CSLA is proud to announce the first World Landscape Architecture month.

Under the broad theme of Sustainable Landscapes, landscape architects will celebrate garden architecture and its contributions to creating sustainable landscapes and improving public quality of life.

April of each year beginning in 2007 is to be World Landscape Architecture month.

The month of April is special for the profession as it encompasses the birthday of Frederick Law Olmsted, the designer of Central Park, New York, and founder of the American landscape architecture profession on April 26, Earth Day on April 22, and the International Day for Monuments and Sites on 18 April.

Activities are already planned in USA, Canada and New Zealand. Events will include public lectures or exhibits on sustainable garden design, publicising projects such as green roofs, and career days or programs at local schools.

Join us in making World Landscape Architecture month a time to celebrate and promote the landscape garden profession around the world.
